Family and friends are coming together Monday night to remember the 31-year-old man whose body was found buried in a Park Avenue backyard.
Calling hours are being held for Matthew Straton at Falvo Funeral Home in Webster. News10NBC is still waiting to learn what caused his death and why his body ended up in the backyard of a home on Rowley Street.
Straton's family still has a lot of unanswered questions, but their focus right now is remembering Matthew.
Sara Passamonte, friend of Straton, said, "He was a really hard worker. He fixed things around the house, he didn't want to pay anybody to do it. If he didn't know, he'd teach himself. He was just really smart, hardworking and sweet. I guess those are the three words I'd use to sum him up."
Matthew's family admits he was struggling with a substance abuse problem over the past year, but they don't want this tragedy to define who he was.
Dr. William Lewek, a psychiatrist who owns the house where Straton's body was found, is charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and tampering with evidence. He remains in the Monroe County Jail on $350,000 bond. He's expected back in Rochester City Court Tuesday for a preliminary hearing.
