After months of searching and unanswered questions, a local family will lay their loved one to rest. The funeral for Matthew Straton is at 10 a.m. at Falvo Funeral Home in Webster.
Police found his body in the backyard of a home on Rowley Street in the Park Avenue neighborhood last week.
Hundreds of people came to his calling hours yesterday. Family friends told us he loved children. They also describe him as a hard worker, a family man, and someone who would light up a room. People said they gravitated toward him even if they didn't know him well.
Straton's family admits he was struggling with a substance abuse problem over the past year, but they don't want this tragedy to define who he was.
Dr. William Lewek, a psychiatrist who owns the house where Straton's body was found, is charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and tampering with evidence. He remains in the Monroe County Jail on $350,000 bond. He is due in court today for a preliminary hearing.
