Twenty-year-old man charged with 2012 shooting in Newark

A 20-year-old man has been arrested and charged with a shooting that happened in October 2012 in Newark.

The shooting happened on Silver Hill Road in Newark around 5:00 a.m. on October 12, 2012.

Police say 20-year-old Camron P. Douglas shot 42-year-old Larry R. Walrad as Walrad answered the back door of his house. Police say the gunshot pierced the door, striking Walrad from behind. Walrad was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. Police say Walrad has since recovered, but is partially disabled. 

Douglas was arraigned on assault charges and sent to the Wayne County Jail on $5,000 cash bail.
