Canadian researchers found some types of medicine could actually lead to thousands of flu cases a year.

They say while a  fever naturally kills off the viruses in the body, medicines like ibuprofen and acetaminophen reduce the fever and increases the chances of spreading the disease.

Researchers also say side effects from medicine can give a false sense of feeling better when the patient is still contagious. Experts recommend only using these types of medicine to relieve discomfort while recovering from the flu.
