A report from Excellus Blue Cross Blue Shield takes a look at how many people in New York are covered under some sort of health insurance, compared to the rest of the nation.
According to Excellus, New York has a statewide uninsured rate of 11.4 percent, almost a full four percent lower than the national average of 15.1 percent. It's even better news in upstate New York, where only 8.4 percent of people aren't insured.
Officials say the numbers show a big step towards President Obama's goal to insure every American, either through employer coverage or open exchanges. To read the full report, click here.
