Twelve people displaced by fire on South Plymouth Avenue

Investigators are working to determine the cause of an overnight fire at a home on Rochester’s southwest side.

Fire officials tell us there are five apartments in the building on South Plymouth Avenue and six adults and six children have been displaced by the fire.

Crews say the flames started in the basement. The smoke detectors in the home were working.

Ambulances were on hand to help keep the residents warm and the Red Cross has stepped in to provide shelter for all 12 people.
