A dog left inside a cold house, alone for weeks, is fighting to survive.
We don’t know the name of the dog, who was found in a house in Rochester, but for now, he’s being referred to as “Jack Frost”.
News10NBC received emails about this story. The dog was brought to a shelter Wednesday. He was living without any heat or food, but now he had a chance.
Sixty to 90 days is how long officials believe “Jack Frost” was left alone. Someone was suppose to be taking care of the dog while his owner was in jail, but instead, he was left starving inside a cold house. He was emaciated when someone finally rescued him this week.
The director of Rochester Animal Services says “Jack Frost” was brought in by a family member of the owner. A rescue group, Rescued Treasurers, offered to take “Jack Frost” and get him the medical attention he so badly needs. Fortunately, “Jack” was rescued when he was because officials say it is not likely he would made it through another night without any heat or food.
Doctor Balonek, Eastridge Animal Hospital, said, "He's got a lot going against him right now. He's got sores. He's literally just skin and bones at this point. The technicians were telling me when he came in yesterday he couldn't even open his mouth because his mouth was frozen shut. "
Right now, “Jack Frost” is being treated and if his organs don’t shut down, there is a chance he will survive. If you want to donate to help him and other pets, click here.
