There's good news for local frequent-fliers. For the first time, travelers can sign up for TSA Pre-Check, a program that will let passengers keep their shoes and jackets on through TSA airport checkpoints.
Area residents can now sign-up for this popular program at an enrollment center located in Rochester.
The Pre-Check application process allows U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents to enroll directly in an expedited screening program that allows travelers to leave on their shoes, light outerwear and belt, keep their laptop in its case and their 3-1-1 compliant liquids and gels in their carry-on.
U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents will now be able to go through a pre-enrollment process online here, then make an appointment and complete their enrollment in person at the application center in Rochester to verify their identity.
TSA started to open application centers last month and plans to open more than 300 application centers across the country by this spring. Rochester is one of the first cities to open a TSA Pre-Check application center within the first month that these centers are opening across the nation.
The enrollment location is at the Universal Enrollment Center at 3300 Monroe Avenue, Suite 206. It is located in the Blackhawk Training Academy facility, next to M&T Bank, and is across the street from the Cheesecake Factory and Pittsford Plaza.
