There are changes in mayor warren's staff Friday night. The head of her security detail, Reggie Hill, who is also her uncle, has resigned.
Hill faced criticism in recent weeks.
He was suspended for a week without pay, after being stopped for speeding while driving the mayor to and from the governor's state of the state address.
Earlier Friday,News10NBC’s Amanda Ciavarri spoke with the mayor's spokesperson about this news, because Mayor Lovely Warren was unavailable.
But we really wanted to hear what mayor warren thought about this resignation. We went to several events where the mayor was expected to attend, but she did not show up.
We also tried to catch up with Reggie Hill, but were told by a family member he did not want to comment.
Chris Christopher, the director of communications for the mayor, says this resignation comes after weeks of criticism. Amanda asked if there were any regrets, and she was told “no.” They still stand by the fact Reggie Hill was very qualified for the job.
Amanda: “I think people are upset about the tickets, and being pulled over, when she was asked directly 'were you pulled over on the way there, on the way back’?”
Christopher: “That is not something I’m going to talk about today. I am just here to talk about Mr. Hill's resignation.”
Amanda: “It has been about a week, the mayor won’t answer questions, you won’t talk about it and you are a spokeswoman for her and you are not taking questions, when will tax payers and the people she serves get answers?”
Christopher: “I think that everything that needs to be known about that incident has come out and that is all we are going to say on it.”
We're told the security position has been posted. Hill was a temporary employee, but we are told he is able to apply, and would be considered just like any other applicant.
