Arrangements for the nine-year-old East Rochester boy who died while trying to rescue his disabled grandfather from a burning mobile home are now set.
Calling hours will be held for Tyler Doohan on Monday and Tuesday this week from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on both days at the Anthony Funeral Home chapel in Webster. Tyler's funeral will be held Wednesday morning at 10 a.m. at St. John of Rochester Church in Fairport.
Officials say Tyler alerted relatives to the fire early Monday morning inside his grandfather's trailer home and six of them escaped. They say Tyler died while trying to rescue his grandfather, who used a wheelchair and crutches after losing a leg.
Fire officials say Tyler's body was found just a few feet from his grandfather. An uncle of Tyler's also died in the fire. Tyler's story has since garnered the attention of people across the county and thousands has been raised via an online fundraiser to help the family of Tyler.
