Update: Fire at Bed, Bath and Beyond in Batavia

Emergency crews battled a fire at the Bed, Bath and Beyond store in Batavia.

According to officials, firefighters from the Batavia Fire Department arrived on scene around 4:20 p.m. They say a small fire stated in the bedding department.

According to the Town of Batavia Fire Chief, When crews entered the store, they found heavy smoke conditions. He also said the sprinkler system helped contain the fire. Crews also experienced a frozen fire hydrant. 

The store sustained smoke and water damage. Smoke from the fire made it's way into neighboring stores, Michael's and PETCO. Everyone was evacuated, and told they could return to the stores. 

Bed, Bath and Beyond will be closed until the damage is cleaned up, and repairs are made.

Officials are still investigating the cause of the fire.
