When you're sitting in the office with your doctor, are their eyes glued to a screen? Electronic health records may help doctors provide more efficient care but a new study says computers can get in the way.
Researchers taped 100 doctor's appointments. They found those doctors spent one-third of the visit just looking at the computer and made less eye contact than when using an old-fashioned paper chart.
Experts say this may interfere with a doctor's ability to listen, problem solve and think creatively.
