Another person has died from a fatal fire last week that killed nine-year-old Tyler Doohan. News10NBC has learned his great grandmother passed away Friday morning. Barbara Beach suffered burns in the fire that broke out in their mobile home in Penfield. Her husband, Lewis Beach and a relative, Steven Smith died last week.
Joe Breyette lost his mother, his stepfather and little Tyler Doohan in the last week and a half. He showed News10NBC the pictures he tried to salvage from the trailer where his mother lived. The edges are burnt and charred. The pages in the photo albums are still frozen together. Breyette recovered them from the trailer Friday. It looks the same as it did when firefighters finally put the fire out.
Breyette said his mother had third-degree burns and was already suffering from some health issues before the fire. His phone rang at 1:00 a.m. to tell him things were getting worse. Breyette’s mother passed away around 4:00 a.m.
Joe Breyette, Barbara Beach's son, said, “I'm feeling devastated. I mean, it's been a rough 11 days. We didn't expect my mother to pass today. I'm wondering if God is testing me to see how much I can take. My faith hasn't changed. I believe in God. I love God but you got to wonder sometimes why? You know? It's a big hit for us this week.”
Breyette said his mom grew up in the Rochester area. She was 65 years old. She was with her husband, Lewis, for more than 35 years.
He says the people who survived the fire are still displaced. Breyette has started a fundraiser for the family members still displaced from the fire.
