New York State Exposed Follow Up: Toll booth changes?

Created: 01/31/2014 2:13 PM WHEC.com

There could be some changes coming to the way tolls are collected on the New York State Thruway.

According to the Albany Times Union, a proposal in the state budget would mean some Thruway toll plazas would become full automated, meaning cameras would take the place of people in the toll booths.

State officials say the changes would also mean tougher penalties for people who go through tolls without paying. Missed payments would be reported to the DMV and could mean those people aren't allowed to renew their licenses or car registrations.
