The Super Bowl is Sunday, but some young students had their own, Souper Bowl, but it’s not quite what you think.
For the past couple of weeks, third graders at the Durand Eastman Intermediate School have been collecting cans of soup. The students decided to hold the drive after learning about world hunger. So they came up with the idea to donate soup to the Irondequoit Community Cupboard. They also came up with the name, Souper Bowl.
Teachers say they collected 500 cans of soup and delivered them to the food pantry Friday.
