A Greece man’s wife had a heart attack and it was up to him to give medical treatment until EMTs arrived.
On Friday, he and his wife came out to thank the dispatcher and EMTs who helped them.
Frank Greco’s wife had a heart attack back in December. It was up to him to give her chest compressions until the ambulance arrived. Greco says the most important thing he was told was to stay calm.
Greco said, “It just was a total blank. I just stepped in and did what I thought I had to do and what I thought I was doing did save her life, with the 911 operator who had stepped through with me while she was on the phone.”
Susan Utter, 911 operator, said, “When he started to get a little panicked, I’d tell him to take a deep breath, and we're just going to keep doing it until the ambulance gets there and that's what he did."
Utter has been a dispatcher for 17 years.
