A 21-year-old man is dead following a shooting at a convenience store on the city's west side Friday night.
It's an unsettling to think you could be in a convenience store to buy some milk, then two people get into an argument, one of them pulls out a gun and within minutes someone is dead.
That's what police say happened Friday night at the S & S Mini Mart on Lyell Avenue.
News10NBC spoke with a relative about the victim.
Family members say he leaves behind a twin brother and young daughter. There are no suspects at this hour and that is leaving this family feeling very uneasy Saturday night. This is what police say happened Friday night shortly before 11 p.m.
Investigators say the victim, Samuel Gibson, walked into the S&S Mini Mart with another person. Shortly after, a group walked in and an argument took place. It escalated and shots were fired.
News10NBC is told one of the bullets struck Gibson in the upper body. He later died on scene.
Police questioned a number of people who were inside at the time.
Family members woke up to the shocking news that their loved one was killed. They say they are fed up with the violence in that area and they have a message for young teens in Rochester.
“You have a family. You have a mother. You have children today. The first thing you need to understand is whose heart you are hurting. You are hurting the family of the person that you killed. You are hurting your family. You are hurting yourself,” said Gloria Riley, family member of Gibson.
At this time police have no suspects is in custody. The investigation will continue. Police are asking anyone with any information to call 911.
