On Sunday, New Jersey will host the country's biggest sporting event of the year. But, before kickoff at the Super Bowl, a special marching band will take to MetLife Stadium.
Amy Hahn's alarm will be going off early on Sunday morning. The Syracuse marching band member will then hop on a bus to head to MetLife Stadium and the Super Bowl to perform during the pregame ceremonies.
The Gates-Chili grad will play the flute at MetLife. But it's nothing new for her, this will be Hahn's third performance at MetLife. The first two times coming during Syracuse football games at the stadium.
Amy says the band will play a mix of New York and New Jersey songs including Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run."
"I'm mainly excited," says Amy. "I'm not really nervous because we've played in the stadium before and it's a football field, so it shouldn't be that difficult. I never really saw myself doing anything huge, coming from a small town like Chili. And I never thought it would be an option to even go to something like this. To say I've been there and been able to have this experience is amazing."
Amy says, unfortunately, she and the rest of the band won't get to stay to watch the Super Bowl. They will get back on a bus to return to Syracuse after the pregame performance, but will watch the game on their phones.
