Family and friends came together Monday to remember a 21-year-old man that was killed Friday night.
Rochester police say Samuel Gibson walked into the grocery store at Lyell and Saratoga Avenues, where shortly after, investigators say another group walked in, and that’s when an argument began, and shots were fired. Police say one of the bullets hit Gibson, and he died at the scene.
Gibson’s father came out to the vigil. We asked him what he hopes you will take away as you're watching this vigil tonight.
“I hope this killing is a message to the rest of their mothers and fathers try to talk to their children. Try to get the guns out of their children's hands so there isn’t another killing on these streets,” said Gibson.
Rochester police told us earlier today they have nothing new in this investigation. If you know something that can help police, you are encouraged to call 911.
