There is new information about a crash in Alabama that killed Spencerport native and former professional golfer, Danielle Downey.
According to a report from the Alabama Department of Transportation, police believe alcohol played a role in the crash Thursday night.
The report says Downey and some friends had been drinking at a restaurant in Auburn. The report says a friend tried to take Downey’s keys because it looked like she had too much to drink.
Also in the report, another witness says Downey’s car passed her at a high rate of speed, went off the road, hit a tree and flipped over several times.
Police say Downey was not wearing a seatbelt and was thrown from the car.
