Her teachers call her brave and courageous and she’s News10NBC “Do the Right Thing Winner.”

School leaders say Laitana Williams, a sixth grader discovered a younger student on her school bus had stolen a cell phone from a teacher. Williams immediately told the student it was wrong to take things that do not belong to you.

Officials say she then took the phone from the student and returned it to the teacher.

Williams was too shy to talk with News10NBC on camera, but her friend says she’s a great example.

Williams attends School No. 53, the Montessori Academy.
