Rochester Police officers say steam from a street vent has forced them to close part of East Avenue Wednesday morning.

Authorities have shut down East Avenue between Scio Street and Gibbs Street, and Swan Street between East Main Street and East Avenue after steam emitting from a street vent made visibility difficult for drivers.

The Department of Environmental Services is working to determine the source of the steam.
