Do the Right Thing: Nilaya Ocasio

She stood up for a fellow classmate and she's News10NBC's Do the Right Thing winner.

Her name is Nilaya Ocasio. She says she knew she had to do something when she saw a young boy being bullied by other students. So she first spoke with the boy, then she had a little talk with the others. She went to a teacher when she saw the bullying continue, she says she just couldn't sit back and watch.

Nilaya Ocasio said, "I've always been polite to people. I've never been shy and I love my parents because they taught me how to just be me and not follow anybody else."

Nilaya is a sixth grader at School No. 41. She wants to be an actor on Broadway.
