It's big day for high school athletes across the country and here at home. National Signing Day may be one of the most anticipated days for athletes and college football fans.
Section 5 took the Class AA title and to no surprise, a few players are committing to play at the next level.
On Wednesday Irondequoit’s Myles Nicholas committed to play football for Jeff Quinn at the University of Buffalo. The Eagles linebacker was rated as the 15th best player in New York State, according to Scout.com.
On Thursday McQuaid’s Will Mahar will take his talents to the ACC to play for Boston College. This past season the Knights place kicker drilled a 52-yard field goal against Edison Tech. Mahar was named first team All Rochester and second team All New York State.
Just down the thruway Scott Shafer, fresh off a Texas Bowl win, has a monster recruiting day. Shafer's top recruit will please Terrel Hunt. Four star recruit K.J. Williams, a wide receiver from Pennsylvania, will wear blue and orange next year.
Another signee that will please Hunt is 6’8” offensive lineman Denzel Ward, who will block from him next year.
Three other top 35 recruits have also committed to play for Syracuse next year.
