Some of our local theatres took time Wednesday night to honor actor and Fairport native Philip Seymour Hoffman.

The Geva Theatre Center dimmed its lights for one minute beginning at 7:45 p.m.

The Little Theatre on East Avenue dedicated a moment of silence to Hoffman before each film it showed Wednesday night.
Geva says Hoffman spoke about seeing stage plays locally and the impact it had on him from a young age back in a 2008 interview.
Hoffman's relatives have planned a private funeral service for him Friday.
