News10nbc has learned the doctor, arrested after police found the body of a missing man in his backyard, is back home.
Doctor William Lewek was freed last month, after posting bail. Doctor Lewek is charged with tampering with evidence, and criminal possession of a controlled substance.
Police reports say he moved Matthew Straton's body from the third floor of his home, to the backyard.
Again, Lewek is not charged with Straton's death.
When William Lewek made bail and was released from jail last month we were told he would be staying in a motel, but tonight we found out Lewek was back staying at his home.
Amanda Ciavarri had a brief exchange with him outside the house.
Amanda: May we ask you a few questions sir?
Amanda: do you have any comment at all about the investigation?
After that we left the property.
Lewek was released from jail after posting $350,000 bail. The whole investigation really rattled this neighborhood. For neighbors on Rowley Street, their road was shut down for days as investigators combed the home, and back yard for evidence, after police say they found the body of Matthew Straton in the back yard.
Thursday night, a memorial for Straton can be seen on the street pole.
We wanted to know how neighbors feel about the fact Lewek is back in the home.
Tim Hausler, a neighbor said, “Not good, but at the same time we are just careful. I wouldn't have thought he would have come back here.”
Shannon Kemp, a neighbor said, “It doesn't bother me. I haven't seen him at all either. For one thing I still think it might have been an accident and um he hasn't been proven guilty.”
While we were talking to neighbors we noticed William Llewek actually being dropped off back at his house.
The Monroe County Medical Examiner's office has not released an official cause of death for Matthew Straton.
