Making Canandaigua's Main Street safer

The state Department of Transportation says it’s time to make Canandaigua’s Main Street safer.

This comes after pressure from local lawmakers following several crashes including one that killed a woman crossing the street. A letter from the DOT said the existing crossings need to be updated to include pedestrian countdown timers.

Those upgrades are expected to be finished this summer.
