UR Medicine’s Strong Memorial Hospital received approval from the New York State Department of Health to proceed with plans for an ambulatory surgical center at the former Lakeside Hospital in Brockport, which is now called Strong West.

A final review by the state’s Bureau of Architecture and Engineering will take place over the next several weeks. Construction should begin in April and is expected to open later this year.

UR Medicine continues to work with department of health to gain approval for a full-service, free standing emergency department.

URMC purchased the former Lakeside Memorial Hospital after Lakeside closed its doors. Strong West consists of urgent care centers in Brockport and Spencerport; Orthopaedic, Cardiology, Neurology, Urology, Oncology and Primary Care practices; as well as lab and Imaging services that support Brockport-area physicians.
