On Sunday, News10NBC got a first look at the upcoming season for the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra.
Officials say the season will officially open on September 18 with acclaimed violinist Midori and guest conductor and Rochester native Ward Stare. The final dates for the orchestra will be June 4 and 6. They will perform Carmina Burana for those dates.
This season, there will be 12 Philharmics weekends instead of 14 and nine Pops concerts instead of 10. In place of those shows, the RPO will host three "innovative and new concert offerings."
“We’ve been tremendously gratified at the overwhelmingly positive response from our audiences this season, and so next season builds upon this year’s programming philosophy that emphasizes compelling repertoire and first-rate visiting artists,” says RPO President and CEO Charles Owens.
