Beating the winter blues and keeping your kids active over February break. That’s the goal of Healthy Hero Week. The week is organized by the Be a Healthy Hero Campaign.
It gives families the chance to get out of the house and get some exercise. On Monday, families could ice skate at the Genesee Valley Park Ice Rink.
News10NBC spoke to organizers about why events like this are important.
Heidi Burke, Greater Rochester Health Foundation, said, "Winter is a very easy time for families to stay indoors because it's a little bit chilly abut it's also a great time to take advantage of the facilities and activities happening all around the city and the county."
Kids can go skating Wednesday and Friday at Martin Luther King Junior Memorial Park. Wednesday open skate will be from 9:00 a.m. until noon. On Friday, there will be skating and a winter wonderland party with other activities too.
