The New York State says it is living up to its promise and suspending the driver's licenses of thousands of people, who owe the state money.

In Monroe County alone, 138 people had their licenses suspended. Governor Cuomo warned the state was going to implement tougher penalties for those who owe more than $10,000 in back taxes.

State officials say everyone was sent a letter warning them about the suspension. In total, nearly 8,000 people across the state have had their licenses suspended.
