Senator Gillibrand to tour Livingston County shelter for female veterans

U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand will meet with female veterans in Avon, Livingston County during a tour of the Zion House at 2:45 p.m. Tuesday.

Senator Gillibrand will be joined by a member of the Armed Service Committee as she discusses issues female veterans face.The Zion House is one of the first homes for homeless female veterans in the country. According to the census, there are 1.6 million female veterans across the country. According to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, in 2011, approximately 14,000 female veterans spent at least one night in a shelter.
