A Monroe County Sheriff’s Deputy was named the New York State Deputy of the Year.

Deputy Jason Elliotto was recognized in Albany on Monday. In January 2013, Deputy Elliotto responded to a house fire on Golden Road in the town of Chili where he saved two people from the burning home, including a seven-month-old girl. Elliotto rushed into the home twice despite heavy smoke and fire to free the two individuals.

Elliotto also serves as a volunteer firefighter.
