We are hearing from friends of a woman police believe was shot and killed by her husband, in what police an apparent murder-suicide.
Kaitlyn Wilchenski, whose maiden name was Vitt, graduated from Greece Athena High School in 2006.
Police in Gallatin Tennessee say officers found her and her husband, Christopher Wilchenski, dead in an apartment Wednesday afternoon.
We spoke with some of Kaitlyn’s friends Friday evening.
They said they all called her Kaiti. This news, understandably, has them heartbroken and in shock, so much so they didn't want to speak to us on-camera, but did want to share more about who the 25-year-old was. They say she always had a way with words, and at times may have acted tough, but she was the sweetest girl.
Friends also remember the 2006 Greece Athena grad as someone who could always make you laugh.
Kaiti's mother sent us a statement, saying:
"Our family and our community lost a beautiful person. A person who gave freely to those in need and had a gift of caring for people who couldn't care for themselves. We will miss Kaiti's smile, her friendship and her loving spirit. The world will miss the goodness she had yet to share."
Friday, we also received emergency communications between the 911 center here and in Tennessee.
You hear the 911 operators talk about Kaitlyn and Christopher’s marital status. The most chilling part comes when the dispatcher here in Rochester recounts what Kaitlyn’s mother told him about what happened to her daughter.
The family has asked for privacy at this time.
