A man died Sunday morning after his vehicle went off the road and hit a tree.

The Monroe County Sheriff's Office says 59-year-old Michael Legan of Churchville was traveling eastbound on Route 531 around 11:30 a.m. Sunday morning, when he lost control of his pickup truck. The vehicle crossed the median and the oncoming lanes and went off the northside of the road. That's when the truck hit a tree.

The driver was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital and was later pronounced dead.

News10NBC is told Legan may have suffered a medical condition prior to the crash.

Sheriff's Deputies say Route 531 was closed down from Union Street and Washington Street earlier Sunday.

The investigation is ongoing.
