Senator Chuck Schumer says money is running out for a program that works to get unemployed veterans back to work. He’s calling on lawmakers to make sure that program is fully funded.

Funding for the Veterans Retraining Assistance Program will expire in March. Senator Schumer says there are hundreds of Rochester veterans in that program and if the money isn't renewed, those veterans, many of them unemployed, will have to pay for themselves or leave the program.

Schumer is proposing legislation that would immediately reauthorize program funding and extend it for two years.

His proposal is expected to go before the Senate for a vote this week.
