Slowly but surely, Microsoft is getting the message -- there are people who don't like their new operating system because they don't have touch screen devices. Because of the steady stream of complaints, Microsoft says it will update its Windows system this spring.
Both Windows 8 and its 8.1 update were developed to work on touch screen computers, laptops and tablets. But for those without touch screens, it was tough to get used to mimicking the gesture commands with traditional mouse and keyboard controls.
In its new version of Win 8, Microsoft will add search, power and setting buttons to its Start page. There will also be ways to make it easier for users to close apps. Microsoft will also update its Windows Phone system.
Those changes will allow for better corporate support - and will make way for cheaper devices aimed at emerging markets.
