Thanks to the generosity of an anonymous company, the students at School No. 20 have a ski club at their school.
The students will take weekly trips to Swain Ski Resort for lessons and trips down the slopes. School officials say they wanted students to be able to experience something they might not have been able to do otherwise.
Cheryl Donatella, Assistant Principal, said, "We did help sponsor some students that were unable to pay the money and we assisted them in coming up with the 75 dollars. We even have a teacher that paid for a couple of our students to go so they could experience it."
Giovanni Mendoza-Colon, third grader, said, "I'm very excited because I've never been skiing before and this is the first time that I've ever been skiing so it's very exciting for me."
School leaders say it will teach the kids about exercise, different communities and help them develop listening and social skills.
