A Geneva woman is facing charges after police say she failed to provide treatment for a disabled person who sustained multiple injuries from a fall.
Dawn Burtchell Fishback, 41, of Geneva, was charged with falsifying business records and endangering the welfare of a disabled person.
Police said an investigation revealed that Burtchell, while employed as a nurse at a private residence, observed the victim fall and sustain injuries, and failed to supply or administer proper care after the injury. Further, officers said she failed to report the fall either in written or verbal form.
The victim, who suffers from an extremely rare genetic disease which causes his bones to be brittle and prone to fracture or break easily, fell off a bed and suffered a broken femur, fractured pelvis, back injury and facial injury, deputies said. Proper care for the victim was delayed more than 16 hours as a result of the defendant’s actions, police said.
Fishback was charged at Victor Town Court, where she was arraigned and released. She will appear at Victor Town Court to face charges at a later date.
