Rochester city school students had the chance to tell district officials what's going on in their schools, and what they feel needs to be changed.

News10NBC’s crew attended the "Student Forum" at District Headquarters on West Broad Street Wednesday.

The Board of Education President said this gives officials a real opportunity to learn from who they're teaching.

“The impetus is we have a struggling school district. You can have all the fancy letters behind your name, but unless you speak to the people who have the real doctorate in education, these young people, we're not going to keep young people in their seats. We're not going to keep them off the streets,” said Van White, RCSD School Board President.

“Students would like to be as informed as teachers and administrators are, because we are ultimately being affected by all these policies and new implementations,” said Sophie Gallivan, student representative.

White said he feels this is an opportunity to build trust between students and the district. He said he feels the district should take some of these student ideas and bring them to fruition.
