News10NBC is hearing from the president of McQuaid Jesuit about his decision to step down as president at the end of this school year. The Reverend Edward Salmon said his age is playing a role in his decision.

He said one of his fondest memories at McQuaid happened when he was very sick.

Rev. Edward Salmon, McQuaid Jesuit President, said, “I had gone into total cardiac arrest and they took me out of here. As the doctor said later on, when they brought you in, clinically dead, but there was such an outpouring of affection, it was deeply appreciated by me and will be one of my fondest memories.”

Salmon became president of McQuaid in 2010. Earlier this week, McQuaid's Board of Trustees said it would begin the process of finding a new president.
