Students in Pittsford took to the dance floor in honor of a young girl killed in the Connecticut school shooting in 2012.
Saturday night a dance was held at St. John Fisher College for Catherine Violet Hubbard.
Hubbard was a first grader at Sandy Hook when a gunman stormed the school, killing 26 students and teachers.
Catherine's aunt and uncle live in Pittsford, along with her cousins.
One of her cousins, 9-year-old Jack Sullivan, founded "Catherine's Peace Team," as a way to raise money for an animal sanctuary in Catherine's name.
“It makes me feel great because I know that I've made an impact and that people are joining the peace team,” said Jack Sullivan.
“The community always needs more peace, and it’s important to keep that message going, just that we can get along with everyone and the kindness keeps going, because that's exactly what Catherine would have wanted,” said Addison Thomas and Anna Gordon, who helped organize the event.
Organizers say freshman and sophomores from four different high schools took part in Saturday night’s event.
