The Rochester Fire Department was out early Sunday morning battling a fire on the city's north side.

Firefighters were called to Rialto Street just after midnight for reports of smoke coming from a building. When they arrived, officials say crews found fire near the stair area of the building. Firefighters say this made is difficult to get to flames on the second floor and crews had to use ladders to get to the upper level.

It took crews about twenty minutes to get the fire under control.

Right now, the fire is still under investigation and the cause in not yet known. Firefighters say the house was vacant at the time of the fire.
