Police ID man shot and killed on Lyell Avenue

Rochester Police have identified the man who was shot and killed in broad daylight on Lyell Avenue Saturday afternoon. It happened near the intersection of Lyell Avenue and Child Street around 4 p.m.

Investigators say the victim, 20-year-old Louis Staples III, suffered a gunshot wound to the upper body. He was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

No suspects are in custody at this time.
