Flames ripped through a barn at a horse farm in Brighton Monday night.

The Brighton Fire Chief says a call came in around 4:30pm, For smoke and flames coming from a maintenance barn at Heberle Stables.

The chief says the barn is a total loss, and the owner lost equipment and vehicles inside. We also learned there was a small apartment inside the barn. The chief says the person who lives in the apartment is ok.

According to fire officials, no other humans, or horses were injured.

We spoke with Judy Farrell, who boards her horse at the stables, about what she saw.

“I couldn't tell what was on fire until I got down closer. And I was just praying that it wasn't the horse barns,” said Farrell.

The chief says the fire started in the back of the barn. Investigators are still looking into exactly what sparked it.
