Keeping the culture and making sure the experience is authentic. That's what the Daniele family strives to do at Mario’s Italian restaurant in Brighton. Just last month, that meant taking two dozen employees to Italy.
The trip gave employees a chance to taste, smell and sees the foods that are the foundation of the restaurant. Owner Anthony Daniele says it really makes a difference. “Obviously, when our customers come in and they're sitting at the table and the server tells them they just got back from Italy and this is a dish they learned how to make and they taste it, it changes the whole experience. I mean it really turns out to be a priceless asset for our restaurants.”
This is the third time in 15 years the Daniele’s have done a trip like this. Employees are chosen to go based on how long they've worked at the restaurant, their desire to learn more about the food and recommendations from supervisors.
