The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about what they say is an ongoing scam.
Livingston County Sheriff’s Deputies say a resident was contacted by a person who identified himself as an attorney for the Publisher’s Clearinghouse Sweepstakes and that she had won $250 million. Sheriff’s deputies say the suspect told her that she needed an attorney and that he was willing to act as her attorney, for a retainer fee. Sheriff’s deputies say the suspect gave the woman instructions on how to obtain a prepaid cash card and forwarded money to the suspect.
The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office says this is a scam. They are warning the community not to send money via prepaid cars or money transfers to anyone they do not know.
