Rochester residents will get a chance to learn about a plan to bring high-speed trains to New York State during a public hearing Friday. The meeting will take place from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Strong National Museum of Play.
Attendants will be able to view plans for improvements along the 463-mile Empire Corridor rail line. State officials have been trying to boost the speeds of trains traveling between New York City and Niagara Falls for the past 20 years. State officials say a high-speed rail system would increase tourism and economic development, as well as reduce highway traffic and pollution.
