Firefighters say three people were able to escape after a fire started in their Spencerport home.

Investigators say the first 911 call went out around 11 p.m. Wednesday. Officials say someone noticed smoke coming out of a house on Evergreen Street near West Avenue. News10NBC is told a firefighter who lived on that road helped three people get out of the home safely.

Investigators say the fire likely started in the attic. Firefighters say the roof and second floor are damaged, and are still working to determine what caused the fire.
