Does your child love to read?

The librarian at Dake Junior High School, Anna Bayerl, in West Irondequoit, came up with a way to encourage kids to read.

This is the annual “Book Bucks Auction."

Students receive 1 "book buck," for every 100 pages they read. Then, they can use their book bucks at the auction, to try and win prizes like gift cards, books, and even a laptop.

Matt Schrage, Principal of Dake Jr. High School said, “I think it's a real reflection of how much our students enjoy reading and love reading. They see our library as a very welcoming place and they certainly are taking advantage of this opportunity to earn a little bit of something positive for what they already have a deep love of doing.”

We're told local businesses donated many of the items.
